Lorne is 140 kilometres south west of Melbourne and an approximately 2 hour drive.
The Annual Lorne Proteomics Symposium has specially coordinated transfers form Melbourne city (WEHI) and Melbourne Tullmarine Airport to get delegates to Lorne and back in a safe and timely manner. Please click here for more details.

Things to Do
The Cumberland Lorne Resort is located directly opposit the swimming beach. The Resort offers a great range of complimentary leisure facilities including an indoor heated pool, gym, sauna, tennis and squash courts as well as surf equipment for hire.
Lorne sits in the middle of the surf coast that stretches from Torquay to Cape Otway. With the competition swells at Bells Beach, gentler waves loved by beginners of all ages and a museum dedicated to the history of surfing, there’s a little bit of famous Australian surf culture for everyone. Or simply stretch your legs and take a beautiful beach walk. The surf swell softens at the town beach for easy, pleasant swimming.
Great Ocean Road
Justifiably known as one of the world’s most beautiful scenic coastal routes. For nearly 250 kilometres along the rugged south-west of Victoria, you’ll tour what’s known locally as the surf and shipwreck coasts, taking in one amazing view after the next. Hop out of the car at various lookouts along the way.
Great Otway National Park
The Great Otway National Park stretches from Torquay through to Princetown and up through the Otways hinterland towards Colac. The park features rugged coastlines, sandy beaches, rock platforms and windswept heathland. In the north, the park features tall forests, ferny gullies, magnificent waterfalls and tranquil lakes. Otway Estate Winery and Brewery
Otway Estate Winery and Brewery is located in the northern foothills of the Otway ranges, 10 minutes south of Colac. The cellar door and Prickly Moses brewery outlet is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 5pm. Visitors can taste a range of beers, ciders and wines produced at the estate and brewery, and can enjoy a light lunch in the café.
