APS HUPO 2026 TRAVEL AWARDS

APS is offering travel awards to support members attending the HUPO 2026 World Congress in Singapore (27 September – 1 October 2026).

Key Dates

  • AHUPO award deadline for students/ECRs: 24 April 2026

  • Early bird registration: 19 June 2026

  • APS award application deadline for MCRs: 29 May 2026

Student Members and ECRs (via HUPO website)

  • Supervisor support statement required

  • ECRs ≤5 years post-PhD

  • Total award value: $1,000 AUD

  • Attendance at minimum 1 Lorne/APS Proteomics Meeting in the past 2 years (2025–2026)

MCR Members (via APS application)

  • 5–15 years post-PhD (career disruptions considered)

  • Total award value: $1,500 AUD

  • Attendance at minimum 2 Lorne/APS Proteomics Meetings in the past 3 years (2024–2026)

Submission Requirements

  • Curriculum Vitae (max. 2 pages): Outline your academic and professional background

  • Proof of Status: University letter, supervisor statement, or employment verification (For direct HUPO submissions only)

  • Evidence of attendance at Lorne/APS Proteomics Meetings (as outlined above)

Conditions of Award

  • Proof of current APS membership

  • Submitted abstract + proof of submission

  • Maximum of 2 awards per laboratory

  • Applicants must reside in Australia or New Zealand

  • Proof of abstract acceptance and HUPO registration required

  • Submission of a post-meeting report (including presentation photo)

  • Attendance at the next APS Annual Conference (Joint APS–AO HUPO 2027)

  • Preference will be given to applicants who have not received a travel award in the past 2 years

KEN MITCHELHILL YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARD

Eligibility Criteria

  • Abstract for the AOHUPO/APS 2027 (submitted via abstract portal and sent to Anthony) (1 page, pdf format). Link to abstract portal - here

  • CV summary of track record (fellowships, publications, prizes and/or awards) (max 2 pages, pdf format)

  • Bio-sketch (1 page pdf format) 

  • Evidence of PhD submission or award date

Assessment criteria 

  • Quality and breadth of scientific contributions to proteome sciences

  • Evidence of growing leadership activities relevant to proteome science 

  • Contributions to training the next-generation of proteomic researchers 

Conditions of Award

  • Proof of current APS membership

  • Applicants must reside in Australia or New Zealand

  • Early postdoctoral career researchers (within 5 years of PhD completion)

Applicants must submit the following to Anthony Purcell by Friday 20th November 2026

APS CAREER DEVELOPMENT AWARD

Eligibility Criteria

  • Abstract for the AOHUPO/APS 2027 Congress (submitted via abstract portal and sent to Melanie)  (1 page, pdf format). Link to abstract portal - here

  • Narrative addressing the assessment criteria including a statement summarising your 5-year career objective and how this award contributes to it (max. 2 pages, pdf format)

  • CV summary of track record (fellowships, publications, prizes and/or awards) (max. 2 pages, pdf format)

  • Bio-sketch (1 page pdf format)  

Assessment criteria 

  • Quality and breadth of scientific contributions to proteome sciences

  • Evidence of growing leadership activities relevant to proteome science 

  • Contributions to training the next-generation of proteomic researchers 

Conditions of Award

  • Proof of minimum 3 years of APS membership

  • Applicants must reside in Australia or New Zealand

  • Researches with 7 to 15 years post-PhD experience

  • 3-year gap since receiving past APS career recognition awards (e.g. Ken Mitchellhill Award)
